Teeth Cleaning Lady Gum disease is one of the most common diseases known to mankind. Even in our country, with the best medicine and greatest medical knowledge anywhere in the world, over 80% of the adult population of the United States has some form of Periodontal Disease. Scientists have now found a link between Periodontal Disease and other chronic inflammatory conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, and some respiratory diseases.

What is amazing about this fact is that a very high percentage of those 80% who have Gum Disease, choose to delay or not treat the disease. We truly believe that the main reason people choose not to treat Periodontal Disease is that there are no symptoms in the early stages. Symptoms do not start to show up until bone loss is significant, and treatment then becomes an expensive and iffy procedure.

With regular home care, most gum disease can be prevented or stabilized. And it will come as no surprise, but smoking is one of the worst things you can do and in some cases, it may come down to giving up smoking or giving up your teeth. When you consider that digestion starts with chewing your food and mixing the food with your saliva, without teeth, digestion doesn’t occur like it was intended and a person’s health ends up compromised.

Gum Disease can be diagnosed, treated, and maintained with little to no discomfort. This seems to be many patients objections to treatment, but we have been successfully treating Gum Disease for over 30 years with tremendous success. The one thing we hear over and over again is how it wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be! It’s not, and it’s the only way to prevent losing your teeth!
